Meals

We provide well-balanced, healthy, nutritious and good tasting meals every day including breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. The menus are developed by a registered dietician and delivered to our school by a well-known local caterer. All food is properly stored- cool foods are refrigerated upon arrival and hot foods are kept warm in commercial food warmers. We do not serve sweetened beverages. All juices are 100% juice.

In order for your child to be served breakfast, he/she must arrive at school before the specified time.

Each class has its own lunch and snack times. Please refer to your child’s class schedule for these times. If your child will be arriving late to school any day, please call ahead and let us know whether he or she will be arriving in time for lunch so that our meal counts are correct. If your child arrives either after breakfast or after lunch time, please be sure he/she has a meal before coming to school.

Menus are posted in our school boards and are available by email upon request.

PLEASE NOTE: No food may be brought to school by parents with the exception of party items for the whole class. Please do not send additional food, snacks, or candy to school with your children backpack. If your child can not eat certain foods, please notify us accordingly. We will make every effort to have an available substitution. In some cases, a doctor’s note may be required, especially in the case of milk allergies.

Parents of the children in the INFANT room must supply us with bottles and nipples that are labeled. Children in toddler rooms need “sippy” cups only for a short time transition.

Discipline Policy

It is our policy to redirect a child from inappropriate behavior with strategies which are age appropriate. It is our responsibility to help children make proper behavior choices and to help them successfully communicate their needs, according to their age. By modeling and teaching positive social skills, mediating difficulties between children, and offering alternatives to aggression, we hope to manage behaviors appropriately. Providing children with choices to behave properly and communicating the natural rewards and consequences of those choices will create an environment in which the need for discipline is greatly lessened.

Our philosophy is to redirect children and help them find strategies and solutions to their conflicts. Verbal redirection is used along with positive reinforcement. The physical and emotional safety of all children is our priority.

CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IS NOT ALLOWED nor psychological abuse, coercion, threats, derogatory remarks or the withholding of food as a form of discipline.
In the event of ongoing behavioral difficulties, parents will be consulted, anecdotal records will be kept on file to identify events, activities, interactions and other factors that can predict or contribute to challenging behavior. Outside resources/ referrals will be suggested, as needed.
We collaborate with agencies in the community to provide services to our children and families which include behavioral skills, training, parents counseling and developmental screenings.
